Legacy Lakes
Located just south of the Village of Pinehurst and Southern Pines, Legacy Lakes, a new master-planned community surrounds Legacy Golf Links in Aberdeen, NC.

Plans call for the development of 612 single-family residences and townhomes clustered in distinct villages and enclaves, some of which will be geared toward active-adult living. Legacy Lakes will include a variety of attached and detached homes, along with tennis courts, swimming pool, state of the art fitness center and an 18 hole championship golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus. Seven Lakes West
Seven Lakes West is a large gated community nestled in the pines. A 1000 acre spring-fed lake, named Lake Auman is the center point of this community. Water skiing, swimming, fishing, sailing is enjoyed by everyone. A Community swimming pool, tennis courts, and playground is located at our new Community Center.

Beacon Ridge Country Club is located inside the community, with restaurant, swimming pool, tennis courts and a 6500 yd golf course designed by Gene Hamm.

Seven Lakes North & South

Local Activities

Moore County Public School System
Moore County Schools offers a comprehensive curriculum K-12 that includes workforce development, programs for special needs and gifted students and arts education. In addition to Advanced Placement courses at all three high schools, Pinecrest High School offers the International Baccalaureate Program.

The district’s students have consistently met or exceeded growth expectations in the state’s “ABC” accountability program.In addition, the district’s 2005 SAT average of 1042 exceeded the national average by 14 points.

Sandhills Community College
Sandhills Community College is located in Southern Pines, a fully accredited two-year institution, with more than 6,000 students. SCC also offers a division for continuing education including classes in areas such as computers, community enrichment, basic skills education(GED program or English as a second language, ect.), small business, public services(i.e. fire, law enforcement, and rescue), occupational Spanish, and more!

Pinehurst No.2
In 2014 Pinehurst will again be hosting the U.S. Open Golf Championship. Pinehurst is the previous site of the 1999 and the 2005 U.S. Open. Constructed in 1907 Pinehurst No. 2 is one of the few consensus top 10 golf courses in the country. Donald Ross called it “the fairest test of championship golf I have ever designed.

The Pinehurst Resorts has 8 championship golf courses including the famed #2 course (site of 1999 and 2005 US Open) and the #4 course that was redesigned by Tom Fazio after the 1999 US Open. Full membership includes play at the Pinehurst 1-6 golf courses (unlimited range balls), use of twenty-eight tennis courts (6 lighted), access to several pools, use of Lake Pinehurst marina and facilities, championship lawn bowling and croquet courts and the Members club and locker rooms. Well-established men’s and women’s golf association with weekly tournaments.

Pinehurst Harness Track
The 110+ acre harness track complex is the oldest continuously operating equine sports facility in North Carolina. Events include annual spring Matinee Races, horse shows and polo matches. Included on the property is the historic Fair Barn which was built in 1917 and is currently undergoing restoration.

First Health Of The Carolinas
Sandhill’s residents have access to quality healthcare facilities, including a regional hospital and numerous specialized clinics usually found only in larger metropolitan cities. First Health of the Carolinas Hospital was recently named one of the top 100 hospitals in the U.S. It has more than 200 physicians, a professional staff of over 2,500, and a 400-bed acute care facility. All specialties are represented, and health assessments, wellness programs, and rehabilitation services are also offered at the First Health Moore Regional Health and Fitness Center in Pinehurst. Also, Duke University and the University of North Carolina Medical Centers are each only approximately an hour away.

Seagrove Pottery
No other state has such deep and dynamic tradition in pottery as Seagrove, N.C., located just a short drive northwest of Pinehurst. It is one of the largest communities of working potters in the United States. At the centralized Potter Center you'll find an excellent representation of the diverse styles and techniques offered throughout the region..

N.C. Zoological Park
With more than 500 acres in its African and North American continental regions, the N.C. Zoo is a great place of wonder and discovery. It is the country's largest and finest walk-through natural-habitat zoo. Located approximately 45 minutes from Pinehurst, the Zoo is a host to many popular animals including polar bears, elk, elephants, gorillas, giraffes, zebras, and dozens of tropical birds.
