Meet the BVH Team

Owners: Robert and Kathy Van Houten

Robert Van Houten: Robert, “Bob”, has been the contractor/owner of BVH Construction for 12 years. Prior to this he was the owner of Van Houten Contracting Services, inc. in upstate New York. Bob has a total of 32 years in construction experience ranging from a carpenter to a superintendent. He currently holds an unlimited NC General Contractors License. Also, he holds the position as a member/manager of Lakeside development (this is the developer of SLW).

Kathy Van Houten: Kathy works directly with our clients in helping them select their home finishes. She also works with our subcontractors in coordinating jobs and ordering materials, she also assists in job estimating, and overseeing the building progress. Kathy is the co-owner of BVH Construction.

Martin Hovland: Martin serves as our Project Manager here at BVH Construction. His vast construction experience in commercial and residential construction assists him in his role here. Martin coordinates work with our subcontractors, job estimating, and works with clients on their homes changes and progress. Prior to BVH Construction, Martin was a Construction Manager for a commercial Construction contractor for 7 years, Project Manager in commercial for 5 years, 5 years as a superintendent for residential and 9 years in residential construction. Martin currently holds a Limited NC General Contractors License and a California “b” Classification General Contractor License.

Bill Smart: Bill is our Field superintendent here at BVH Construction. He has 26 years of commercial construction experience as a Forman and field engineer. Bill also has 4 years of residential experience as a superintendent. Here at BVH Construction Bill travels to the job sites on a regular basis to ensure that all is in order. He also coordinates ordering and delivery of materials, subcontractors and the field crews.

Deborah Morris: Deb is the book keeper for BVH Construction, she has over 20 years experience. Deb does the invoicing, bill paying, banking, Insurances, etc. She also assists Kathy with the home selections for clients.
